Winter Wonders CSA

January may be well beyond harvest season, but pottery can be fresh all year round! Join our Winter Wonders CSA (Community Supported Art) and you will have something to look forward to during some of the darkest, coldest, snowiest days of the year.
The mission of the Haataja Designs Winter Wonders CSA is to bring more art to more people, while building a relationship between artist and recipient.

Once per month in January, February, and March, come to a “housewarming” of sorts to receive your art share as we welcome you into our cozy Tiny Shop. No need to rush home with your new treasures- stay a while and meet new neighbors, enjoy good conversation, and be warmed by a fire and complimentary hot drinks!
Your monthly share will contain unique and valuable items created by artist Zachris Haataja. Though Zachris is best known for his pottery, you can look forward to receiving art from his other creative disciplines, such as screen printing and block printing.

Sign up today to be part of a warm community of local-art-loving folk!

FAQs

Why is the Winter Wonders CSA good for the community?

Our CSA seeks to bring our neighbors together and to add more art into the lives of those in our community. Having a personal relationship with the individual who has hand-crafted the art in your home fosters a sense of connection. We believe this carries richer significance than the purchase of a mass-produced item, dreamed up by an artist you’ve never met. We also hope that our CSA members will take time to meet one another during our pick-up open houses, and encourage one another through the winter months, which can be quite dark and difficult for many. We’re not meant to live life disconnected; let our art remind you that there are things bigger than yourself and your circumstances, that you matter, and that you are not alone.

What is a CSA?

A typical CSA refers to Community Supported Agriculture. Per the USDA, this model allows growers and consumers to provide mutual support and share in the risks and benefits of food production. Through our Community Supported Art, we aim to encourage connectedness in our community as well as provide an opportunity for residents of the area to increase their awareness in and support of local art and artisans.

How do I join the CSA?

You will use our website to register for the CSA. A one-time, non-refundable payment of $275+tax covers all three months (January, February, March) of your art shares.

What is in my art share? Do I get to choose?

No. That is part of the WONDER.
Your share will consist of a gift box curated with screen printed goods, pottery, block printed art, or other hand-crafted items.

Where will I pick up my art shares?

We will have an open house on the fourth Thursday of each month from 4-7pm at our Tiny Shop in Esko. If weather causes a cancellation, CSA members will be contacted with information for an alternate date.
Members are welcome and encouraged to stay a while and enjoy warm drinks, refreshments, and a campfire or the warmth of the pellet stove in the Tiny Shop during pickup hours.

Will there be other opportunities to join this CSA or one similar?

This Community Supported Art endeavor is new for us. If it is successful, we hope to offer another in the future, but likely not until the first quarter of 2027. You have until midnight on December 31, 2025 to sign up for the Winder Wonders CSA.

What can I do with my art?

This is great opportunity to add more art to your everyday, as many of the pieces will be functional. Your art shares will make delightful additions to your own home or impressive gifts for your friends and family.
